To aid machining, reduce processing time and thus cost, consider these factors in custom and bespoke heatsink design:

Keep fin cross sections thicker and more stable

Keep tolerances as open as possible
-
If machined from solid consider standard cutter diameter
-
Keep depth of slot to 4x width or less
-
Where not critical, specify a rougher surface finish
